Changing Soils
Four Week Sermon Series
July 14th 2024 - August 4th 2024
Week 1 - July 14th: Which Soil Am I on?
Big Idea: Jesus shared clearly in the parable of the soils that there is only one soil you want to be on. As Jesus followers, we want to be on the fruitful & good soil but honestly, we better identify with the thorns. We will look at how this isn’t just a “next best” option for life, but rather that the two soils are the difference between death and life for you and generations to come.
Week 2 - July 21st: Praying Like a Disciple Maker
Big Idea: The first habit of a disciple maker is a vibrant prayer life. Whether you are a prayer warrior already or you struggle to keep your mind focused while blessing the meal, God will meet you where you’re at. Disciple Making is a spiritual activity that the devil doesn’t like and our greatest weapons are the Word of God and prayer. Today we will learn some practical prayer habits that are the first step from moving from the thorns of busyness to the fruitful good soil that produces a harvest.
Week 3 - July 28th: Engaging the Lost
Big Idea: God has intentionally placed us around the people in our lives to share with them about Him. Today we will walk through how to have intentional conversations that discover spiritual interest without creeping others out. We will look at John 4 and how Jesus did this in his encounter with the woman at the well. People will walk out equipped and empowered to take next steps with the people they have been praying for.
Week 4 - August 4th: Once I’ve Found Someone to Disciple
Big Idea: Today we will be learning what to do once you’ve found someone to disciple. We will study the relationship between Jesus and Peter as an example to follow by looking at several interactions between them. There is not one single way to make a disciple but there are specific things we must do if our disciples will become disciple makers themselves.
